“Our client, M, has been working with Matt Holmes, Inspire Abilities, for several years. M’s housemate is not as physically mobile as M, and so he had limited opportunities to enjoy walks and other physical activities which he enjoys. Participating with Inspire Abilities has given him access to these interests. M has had one-on-one outings twice a week with various Mentors for several years. He has attended Social Saturday events, and some Friday night activities like Bowling and Chalkers. He has also joined the group for Overnight camps, and been able to fly to Queensland and to Melbourne. These activities would not be possible in his normal circumstances. During this time, M has developed a trusting relationship with Matt Holmes, and other staff from Inspire Abilities. He has had the opportunity to develop relationships with other young people, too. He is a man who does not express himself verbally very much, but the huge smile visible when he sees the Mentors, or when we tell him he has an event coming up, is evidence of how much he enjoys his participation with this organisation.
