Developmental Education

At Inspire Abilities SA, we work with individuals and their key support networks to facilitate lifelong learning and independence. As disability specialists, we adopt evidence-based approaches to support individuals across the lifespan to ensure the best outcome for individuals and their families. Adopting a multi-intervention approach (1:1, group, and community-based support) allows participants to learn, practise and consolidate skills in supported and realistic settings.

As Developmental Educators we work with families and carers to support:

  • Physical and emotional well-being

  • Capacity building including social, communication, self-care, daily living, recreation and employment skills

  • Collaboration between families, allied health professionals, community, and workplaces

  • Advocacy

  • Strategy development and implementation for individuals and key support networks (prompting positive behaviour and relationships)

Service provision includes:

  • Developmental, functional, and sensory profile assessments and reports

  • Skill development to support inclusion, functional communication, routines, theory of mind, and sensory challenges

  • Transition planning

  • Individualised support programs including short-term and long-term goal setting (3-5 years)

  • Individual and family counselling

  • 1:1 and small group therapy (face to face and telehealth)

  • Engaging ongoing feedback from participants and families to inform future program development
